About Us
How we came to be . . .
I am in awe and inspired by hummingbirds! There is something about their grace, agility, speed, and beauty in such a tiny little body. They can be quite mesmerizing to watch. I think that is what I love about quilting and embroidery; to create and watch something beautiful come together. Watching a machine stitch out something beautiful can be sometimes as mesmerizing as a hummingbird. As artists/crafters, we are motivated by seeing our creations come to life and moved by the delight they bring to others! My hope is that our designs, services and gifts inspire creativity, brings inspirations to life, and awe to those who receive them!
Why the name Calliope? It is a breed of hummingbird and also means beautiful in Greek (beautiful quilting and embroidery). Did you know hummingbirds have to eat every 10 to 20 minutes throughout the day because their metabolism is so high? At night, they go into a hibernation-like state which reduces their heart rate from hundreds of beats per minute down to about 40. To learn more, click on the link below ~

About me
~ Taking after my mom ~
When I am not enjoying my family and dogs, I can be found doing something crafty! I have always enjoyed making something for my friends and family for as long as I can remember. Mom was an amazing artist! From sewing when I was a kid, to stained glass, oil and watercolor painting, beading and I mean the tiny beads, ceramics, and quilting. Everything she touched looked like "A work of art."
Now that my kids are grown, my family and friends encouraged me to start my own business. I could not have done this without all the encouragement and help from my husband!!! Thank you baby ~ I am so excited to share my passion for creating and the joy it brings others. With a background in education, it is my honor to help others see their potential become a reality!
